Procedures and interventions in aesthetic medicine and plastic-reconstructive surgery are increasingly common among the population. At the same time, the need for imaging support before, during, and after such procedures/interventions has become increasingly evident, to maximize results—not only aesthetic but also reducing risks and complications. In the field of diagnostic imaging, Ultrasound takes a leading role due to its well-known general characteristics of simplicity, non-invasiveness, portability, and low cost. Additionally, it offers high spatial resolution in the study of superficial structures, especially in recent years, as high and ultra-high frequency transducers have become widely available.
The purpose of this course is to increase the knowledge of sonographers regarding aesthetic and plastic procedures, both in preliminary studies and potential real-time guidance, and in the follow-up and identification and treatment of any complications. This issue has numerous diagnostic, therapeutic, and medico-legal implications.
